Future Apple TV may get a FaceTime camera – but is it worth it? [Vote]

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggested that Apple is considering releasing an Apple TV with a built-in FaceTime camera.

But does this idea actually make sense compared to connecting a separate camera or using an iPhone as a camera…?

That's what Gourmet is about told today in this weekend's Power On newsletter.

There's also the smart home segment where Apple still has big ambitions. It discussed automation of household functions and the proposal of an updated Apple TV set-top box with a built-in camera for FaceTime video conferencing and gesture-based control. And all of these technologies will work seamlessly with both the iPhone and the Vision Pro.

The idea really makes superficial sense. You can use Apple TV for FaceTime calls, and most TVs don't have their own cameras yet, so why not build a camera into the box itself?

But it got me wondering how many Apple TV boxes actually house , where the camera can be used, not to mention practical?

I think a USB-C port for an external webcam would be better. You install it on your TV, you don't have to give up using your iPhone/iPad for a continuous surveillance camera, and you can always choose not to install it or take it with you around town when not in use as it offers more privacy. focused.

I know a lot of people hide the box either behind the TV itself or in a TV cabinet drawer. For others, it may be located under the TV, where the view from the “nose camera” would be inappropriate!

Other devices can be mounted in any orientation – so which side will Apple place the camera on anyway? ?

And if Apple decided to, for example, install it on the “front” side of the device, would you want to move and install your Apple TV accordingly? Or would you rather use an external camera or an iPhone?
