Final Fantasy XIV Coming to iPhone with New Mobile App

iPhone games continue to become more powerful and popular than ever. Square Enix today announced that its critically acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV is coming to mobile devices in a new adaptation.

The New Game Is an Adaptation of Final Fantasy XIV

Square Enix has announced that Lightspeed Studios is completing a mobile adaptation of Final Fantasy XIV. The game will not be identical to the original, but the goal is to create a worthy mobile version.

LIGHTSPEED STUDIOS has gone to great lengths to ensure that FINAL FANTASY XIV MOBILE faithfully recreates the award-winning gameplay and story of the original game. FINAL FANTASY XIV MOBILE retains lifestyle content like fishing, Triple Triad, and chocobo racing. Additionally, players can immerse themselves in the carefully crafted visual experience that defines Eorzea on mobile. Visual elements – from the complex weather and time of day systems that offer over 600 different weather conditions across a variety of landscapes – to the character designs and player gear have been carefully crafted and optimized to bring the details of the original game to life.

Final Fantasy XIV will be launching in China soon for early playtests, but will be receiving a full global launch shortly thereafter.

There are currently no details available regarding which specific devices will support the game. You may need a relatively new iPhone model, but that information has not been released yet.

Apple recently announced that two new Final Fantasy games are coming to the iPhone via Apple Arcade, but neither has the same notoriety as Final Fantasy XIV.
