It's been a few days since Apple announced the new Beats Solo headphones. 2764 days to be exact. However, the day counter is clearly about to reset as more and more signs point to the imminent release of Beats Solo4 hardware.

The most obvious sign? 9to5Mac obtained complete information about the characteristics of the Beats Solo4 exclusively from reliable sources. The TL;DR is this: Beats is about to release a big update to its over-ear headphones at the same price as their 2016 predecessors. That means more value in 2024 dollars, plus they're USB-C. . Here's what we can expect from the Beats Solo4 headphones.

Improved battery, audio and USB-C

Beats Solo4 will upgrade its spatial audio capabilities with support for dynamic head tracking. On the audio front, we can expect improved audio performance thanks to updated drivers and rebalanced acoustics. Specifically, the Solo4 headphones will feature custom-made 40mm transducers that promise better clarity and range.

Apple is also bringing the Beats Solo4 to USB-C for charging and lossless high-resolution audio. The Solo4 headphones will also retain the 3.5mm audio port for lossless audio—no battery power required.

Current Beats Solo3 Style

In terms of battery life, the Solo4 headphones get 10 hours more battery life compared to the Solo3, bringing the total runtime to 50 hours. Fast Fuel charges in just 10 minutes for up to 5 hours of wireless playback.

Soft, comfortable cushioning

Beats is also bringing one-touch pairing support to Android, and Find My support will work from iCloud devices. In terms of comfort, the Beats Solo4 will use so-called UltraPlush ear cushions, which will make the headphones comfortable to use all day long.

Other details include support for Bluetooth 5.3, improved call quality through beamforming microphones, using voice targeting algorithms for clarity, and a lightweight 217 gram body that retains a foldable design for portability.

Beats Solo4 will join the existing lineup, which currently consists of Beats Studio Pro ($349.99), Beats Studio Buds+ ($169.99), Beats Fit Pro ($199.99) US), Beats Studio Buds ($149.99), Beats Flex ($69.99), and Powerbeats Pro ($249.99). Actual retail prices often vary due to regular discounts.
