Chrome for iPhone Now Lets You Customize the Menu Bar and Carousel

Chrome for iPhone and iPad has significantly improved the quality of life with the ability to customize the menu bar.

This is the menu that slides up when you click the three-dot overflow menu on the right. There is a carousel and a list of different actions. If you scroll down, a new “Setup Menu” will appear. button

Previously, the top carousel “showed frequently used items first.”” Personally, I found the constant shuffling to be annoying and bad for muscle memory. Now you can disable the “Smart Sort Menu Bar”.

Save your settings and site information, you can remove everything else from the carousel: bookmarks, downloads, history, password manager (with a beautiful widget on the home screen that opens the keyboard when pressed to search for saved credentials), Reading List, Recent Tabs, Track Price, and What's New.

Meanwhile, you can change their order. and uncheck the list of actions:

  • Subscribe
  • Add to bookmarks
  • Add to reading list
  • Clear browsing data
  • Add to reading list
  • Clear browsing data
  • Add to action list
  • Follow
  • Add to bookmarks
  • Add to reading list
  • Clear browsing data
  • Add to action list li>
  • Translate
  • Request website for PC
  • Find on page…
  • Zoom text…

This option is great for Chrome on Android. The overflow menu (on Pixel 8) takes up the entire height of the screen, but does require some scrolling. (It would also be a good idea to move the address bar down.)

We see this option for customizing the menu bar in Chrome 125 for iPhone and iPad.
