OpenAI's popular AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT is currently down, taking the platform offline for users worldwide on Friday evening. The outage also affected Siri integration in the iOS 18.2 beta.
ChatGPT outage affects iOS 18.2 users
According to OpenAI, the company has already identified the cause of the issue and is currently working on a fix. While OpenAI says it will restore ChatGPT functionality “as soon as possible,” there is no estimate on when the service will be up and running again.
Many users are seeing random error messages when trying to use ChatGPT right now.
With iOS 18.2 beta, which introduces new Apple Intelligence features, Apple has finally enabled the promised Siri integration with ChatGPT. With this feature, users can interact with the OpenAI chatbot directly from the Siri interface. However, due to a glitch, this interaction is also not working for many iPhone, iPad, and Mac users running the latest beta software.
It’s worth noting that iOS users will be able to interact with GPT via Siri for free, even without an OpenAI account. However, Apple also allows users to sign up for ChatGPT Plus and link their account to Siri directly from iOS settings so they can take advantage of the premium features.
