Apple plans to roll out some of its upcoming iOS 18 features in data centers using servers equipped with Apple silicon chips, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.
M2 Ultra chips will solve some of the most complex artificial intelligence problems planned for this year and beyond. Apple has reportedly accelerated server plans in response to the popularity of ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence products, and future servers may use next-generation M4 chips.
While some tasks will be performed on the device, more intensive tasks e.g. , you will need a cloud connection to create images and summarize articles. A more powerful version of Siri will also require cloud servers. Privacy has long been a concern for Apple, but the team working on the servers says Apple's chips will inherently protect user privacy.
Gurman previously said that all future versions of iOS 18 The features will run on the device, but it looks like some of the features coming this year will actually use cloud servers. Apple plans to use its own servers for now, but in the future it may also rely on servers from other companies.
