Apple Wallet App Will Support Transit Cards in Paris and Toronto

Apple announced that starting today, the Navigo transit card will be available in the Wallet app, allowing iPhone and Apple Watch users to simply tap their devices to pay for rides on subways, trains, buses, and more. Paris, France.


Using a Navigo card in the Wallet app, you no longer need a passenger visit a ticket vending machine or top up your card in retail stores. Instead, passes can be purchased directly from the Wallet app on iPhone or from the Île-de-France Mobilités app.

Apple also announced that real-time transit information for the Paris area will be available in Apple Maps, appearing on this week. This feature will allow passengers to view detailed schedules, real-time departure and arrival times, delays, service disruptions, and any connections needed to make a trip across multiple transit systems.

In related news, Transport recently announced that The PRESTO card in Toronto, Canada will soon also support the Wallet app.

In both cities, transit cards will support express mode, meaning riders can simply hold their iPhone or Apple in their hands . Monitor your payment reader to pay for your ride without having to unlock or wake up the device. Express Mode continues to work for up to five hours after your iPhone's battery is dead.
