Apple Vision Pro was used to assist a doctor during shoulder arthroscopy surgery in Brazil

Since the launch of Apple Vision Pro, we've seen several examples of surgeons using the headset to assist during surgery. procedures. Now an orthopedic doctor from Brazil has successfully operated on a patient with a torn rotator cuff using Vision Pro.

Vision Pro was again used to assist the doctor during surgery

The shoulder arthroscopy operation was performed by doctor Bruno Gobbato at the Jaragua Hospital in Brazil. Gobbato told MacMagazine about his experience using Apple Vision Pro to assist him during a procedure to treat a patient with a rotator cuff tear, which is an injury often caused by progressive wear and tear of the tendon tissue over time.

“Shoulder arthroscopy uses a camera inside the joint, and surgeons perform it while looking directly at a screen. With this device, I was able to see high-resolution movie-screen-sized images and see patient studies and 3D models in real time,” he said. – said the doctor.

Gobbato praised the dynamic range of Apple's Vision Pro cameras. One of the problems with using headsets during surgery, he said, is the bright lights used in operating rooms to illuminate the exact area that will be operated on, which can cause everything around the spotlight to become too dark.

He also shared a video on YouTube showing how he can easily view his recordings, patient X-rays and live camera feeds simultaneously using Vision Pro. A few years ago, the same doctor already used Microsoft HoloLens during surgery.

Doctors name it “game changer”

Last month, Apple detailed how the Vision Pro app can be used in robotic knee and hip surgery. A British neurosurgeon subsequently praised the Vision Pro as a “game changer” after it was used during spine surgery.

With the new myMako App, Stryker empowers the surgeon both in the operating room and beyond using Apple Vision Pro and iPhone. For better preparation, myMako allows surgeons to visualize and review patients' Mako surgical plans at any time through a stunning, immersive visual experience.

It is worth noting that Apple Vision Pro is currently only available in the US price from 3499 dollars. By the end of the year, Apple plans to release the headset in more countries.
