Apple TV+ today announced a partnership with Major League Baseball and Imagine Documentaries to produce a three-part documentary series that will offer “behind-the-scenes coverage” of the upcoming 2024 World Series. The as-yet-untitled docuseries is in production, but no release date has been announced.
Apple said the documentary series will explore the “dramatic, high-stakes world” of the World Series and each team’s fight to win the championship, and will feature interviews with players and their families, coaches, fans, and reporters. New York Yankees legend and five-time World Series champion Derek Jeter will serve as an executive producer.
The 2024 World Series is expected to begin in late October, but the two teams that will compete for the championship have not yet been determined. In the American League Championship Series, the New York Yankees lead the Cleveland Guardians 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. In the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers lead the New York Mets 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. The winners of those series will face each other in the World Series.
Apple TV+ has streamed MLB’s “Friday Night Baseball” for three seasons in a row, and also offers documentaries about the NFL’s New England Patriots, NBA star Stephen Curry, Argentina’s Lionel Messi and more.
