Apple TV+ is currently streaming three of its best shows

Have you recently watched Wolfies and are looking for more recommendations for Apple TV+? Or are you just always on the lookout for good TV, no matter where it’s on? Let me recommend three great shows currently streaming on Apple TV+.

It’s a Good Time for TV+ Shows

Apple TV+ has long strived to distinguish itself with a “quality over quantity” approach. And for the most part, it’s succeeding. Apple has a lot of fantastic shows and award-worthy movies to offer.

However, in most cases, Apple's limited offerings mean that there will only be 1, maybe 2 great shows on air at a time.

Personally, if a streaming service has one top show, I’m likely to keep my subscription. I’ve done it many times with HBO. All it takes is one great show to win me over, like The Last of Us or House of the Dragon.

There are currently not one, but three fantastic shows streaming on Apple TV+ at the same time.

  • Bad Monkey
  • Slow Horses
  • Pachinko

And, importantly, each one offers a completely different flavor of television pleasure.

#1: Bad Monkey

This might be my favorite original series of the year. It's from Ted Lasso creator Bill Lawrence, but basically has very little in common with Lasso.

Here's Apple's summary:

Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vince Vaughn), who was kicked out of the Miami Police Department and now works as a health inspector in the Keys. But when he stumbles upon a case that starts with a human hand fished out by tourists, he realizes that if he can prove murder, he'll be back. He just has to get past a trove of Florida weirdos and one bad monkey.

Bad Monkey is full of funny moments, thrills, cliffhangers, and heartwarming drama. It gives you a little bit of everything. The only bad thing I can say is that the story drags a little. But I like the characters so much that I don't mind.

Bad Monkey is currently streaming its first season on Apple TV+.

#2: Slow Horses

I'll admit, I'm hesitant to join the Slow Horses fan base. The first few episodes of Season 1 didn't grab me the way it did many others. But after a second viewing, and especially the last few episodes of Season 1, I was hooked. Then my wife and I quickly binged the six episodes of Seasons 2 and 3 of the spy thriller.

Here's Apple's recap:

Slow Horses, a darkly funny spy drama, follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in the scrapheap of MI5 after making career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but short-tempered leader, the infamous Jackson Lamb (Academy Award winner Gary Oldman), they navigate the smoke and mirrors of the world of espionage to protect England from sinister forces.

Season 4 has not disappointed so far, and I’m thrilled to hear that Season 5 is on the way. Slow Horses masterfully combines dark humor, action, and intrigue with gripping storytelling. It’s also just a really smart show that doesn’t disrespect the intelligence of its viewers in any way.

Slow Horses is currently in its fourth season on Apple TV+. But they are short, so you'll catch up quickly.

#3: Pachinko

For a while, the first season of Pachinko was the only best-reviewed series on Apple TV+. And deservedly so. This epic story weaves together the stories of multiple generations of a family so powerfully. It’s full of heart, soul, and characters so real and layered that you’ll be drawn into their world.

Apple’s description reads:

Epic in scope and intimate in tone, Pachinko begins with forbidden love and crescendos in a sweeping saga that travels between Korea, Japan, and America to tell an unforgettable tale of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning.

For some, Pachinko’s multilingual dialogue will be a challenge. The characters speak a mix of Korean, Japanese, and English, so you’ll need subtitles. If you can get through that, there's so much more to come.

Pachinko is currently airing on Apple TV+ for the second season.

There are still plenty of TV+ offers to come.

If three great shows aren't enough, I've also heard great things about La Maison, but I haven't watched it yet. The French-language fashion series is often compared to HBO's Descendants.

And there's so much more to come around the corner. I'm especially looking forward to Disclaimer and the new season of Shrinking in the next couple of weeks.
