By Eric Slivka

Apple today updated its free sports app for iPhone with several new features and changes, including a new Highlights section in the In-Play Games tab and pre-game lineups for football and baseball games, where available.

Other new features include improved league standings that track which teams have qualified for the postseason and which have been eliminated, and you can now easily schedule a live stream for any game in the Today tab.

What's new in version 2.3:

  • The league standings can now track which teams qualified for the postseason and which ones were eliminated.
  • Quickly see the high-scoring plays and big moments in a game with Key Games, the new Play-By-Play tab.
  • When available, football and baseball game pages now include pre-game lineups.
  • Schedule a live stream for any game in the Today tab to automatically get the live scoreboard on your lock screen when the action starts.

Apple Sports is a free app available in the App Store.
