Apple on WWDC previously looked at a bunch of new functions coming in its updated operating systems, but some changes will be met with anxiety of third -party developers, which already offer applications with equivalent or similar functions. In other words, their product was “pricked” by Apple.
When Apple creates an application or function that has a functionality detected in the third side application, it refers to the application. The name dates back to the Sherlock search tool in OS X, which Apple improved the functions that were registered from a third -party application called Watson. Watson's developers have accused Apple of copying the product without compensation, and since then Sherlocking has been used to describe the applications that have been replaced by Apple.
Here are the functions in iOS 26, iPados 26, MacOS 26 and Watchos 26, which, to varying degrees, for Sherlock Popular Saustisting existing applications.
Apple Sherlocking new functions
- Improved spotlight – provides offered applications, commands and user shortcuts with the ability to perform actions such as creating calendar events or creating GIF files directly from the search. Sherlocks Raycast and Launchbar.

Of course, some of these applications can still offer additional functionality, in addition to acting Apple, and SherloCked application developers sometimes find ways to improve their applications to distinguish them from Apple, so it hopes that life remains in many of them.
