French site Numerama interviewed three senior Apple employees about the new iPad Pro models released earlier this month. While the discussion didn't reveal many new details, it did mention one potential change for future iPads.

Although the Apple logo on the back of the iPad is positioned so that it appears vertical in portrait orientation, the devices are often used in landscape orientation with a keyboard attached, resulting in the Apple logo appearing on the side. Apple has even moved the front camera to the longer right edge on the new iPad Pro and iPad Air models so that it appears top-center when the devices are in landscape orientation.

When in landscape orientation. Increasingly popular, Apple product designer Molly Anderson said a landscape Apple logo is possible on future iPads.

“I think that could change,” Anderson said, according to a computer translation of the interview in French. . “We are thinking about it. The iPad has long been a product that's used in portrait mode, but we're increasingly using it in landscape mode.”

On the software side, Apple has already started showing the Apple logo that appears when you boot up the iPad in landscape mode. , starting with iPadOS 14.5, when the device is in landscape orientation. Since Apple seems willing to make changes to the hardware as well, this will be something to watch for in future iPads.
