Apple Reportedly Delaying 'More Than Usual' Number of Upcoming iOS 19 Features

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has reportedly delayed a large number of iOS 19 features until a later release of iOS 19.4, meaning we might not get them until spring 2026.

This isn't out of the ordinary, and we're already seeing Apple implement this scheme with Apple Intelligence and iOS 18, with the updated Siri only coming in iOS 18.4 next spring despite being announced at WWDC24 along with all the other iOS 18 features.

Gurman didn't specify which features were necessarily delayed, but he clarified that the delayed features go beyond just the new LLM Siri it announced last week:

I'm told that more than the usual number of features planned for iOS 19 (beyond the new Siri) have already been delayed until spring 2026 (when iOS 19.4 debuts).

As an update, Apple is reportedly working on a new “LLM Siri” for iOS 19 that will “handle tasks in a way closer to Google's ChatGPT and Gemini.” However, it will only come a couple of months before the iOS 20 reveal. (Feeling old yet?)

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 19 at its annual WWDC developer conference in early June 2025. After that, the first public version will ship to customers in September, along with a new round of iPhone 17 models, which are expected to include an all-new form factor, the iPhone 17 Air.
