Apple releases first beta versions of iOS 17.5, macOS 14.5, VisionOS 1.2 and more

Did you miss life in the beta version? All aboard the iOS 17.5 beta train. After several weeks without a beta for developers, Apple has released the first beta version of iOS 17.5 for testing. The full list of beta versions today includes other Apple platforms:

  • iOS 17.5
  • macOS Sonoma 14.5
  • visionOS 1.1
  • watchOS 10.5
  • tvOS 17.5
  • HomePod 17.5

We'll update our devices so you don't have to (unless you want to) and update our coverage with what's new. In the meantime, here's a quick look at each version of iOS 17 so far:

What can we expect from iOS 17.5? This could be the version that ships on the new iPads (talking about long overdue updates). Otherwise, the VisionOS 1.2 beta is a platform that could gain a lot more at this stage. See something new? Let us know in the comments.

In any case, the iOS 17.5 beta should last until April as we expect the long-awaited iOS 18 beta in June.
