Apple is rumored to announce new iPads on March 26th

Apple is expected to release new iPad Air and OLED iPad Pro models in the next few weeks. According to new rumors coming out of Asia, the company will announce its new iPads on Tuesday, March 26.

Chinese leaker Instant Digital said on Weibo this morning that Apple will make some sort of announcement related to the new iPads on that date, but stopped short of calling it an official launch date. Instead, Apple could announce the availability of pre-orders with delivery dates.

In addition, the Chinese site IT Home stated that Apple will release new iPads on March 26th. However, the publication appears to have interpreted this as a launch date based on when multiple listings for third-party protective cases for the new iPads will appear on Amazon, rather than specific information from a reliable source.

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Apple plans to release new iPad Pro and iPad Air models around the end of March or April. However, a well-connected reporter now appears to be leaning more towards the possibility of publishing in April.

In the latest edition for your newsletter subscribers Power On Gurman said he wants to clear up any confusion regarding when he thinks Apple will release the new iPads (specifically the new iPad Pro models).

Gurman confirmed that the new version of iPadOS 17.4, intended for updated models, will not be ready until the end of March or even sometime in April. “Once the operating system is ready, Apple needs to ship it to factories for installation on new hardware. This process could take a couple of weeks, which will likely take us deeper into the next month,” he wrote.

The two new iPad Pro models are expected to feature a new M3 chip, OLED displays, thinner bodies, a landscape front-facing camera, a redesigned camera bump, and possibly MagSafe wireless charging.

Two new iPad Pro models Expected iPad Air models will feature Apple's M2 processor and a front-facing landscape camera, including the world's first 12.9-inch model.

Other announcements expected in March and April include a new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro with a larger trackpad and a new Apple Pencil.

Gurman previously ruled out holding an Apple Event for the new iPads. Instead, he believes they will be announced in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website, as was done earlier this month about the new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models.
