While not an event, Apple has officially confirmed that next week will be an “exciting week of announcements,” starting Monday morning. The teaser was posted on social media by Apple’s vice president of marketing, Greg Joswiak.
These announcements are expected to focus on the Mac and Apple’s move to the M4 chip. Below, you’ll find the full details of what’s to come.
There are no other details yet on what form the announcements will take next week. We expect a series of press releases throughout the week, possibly with a few accompanying videos. We'll have to wait and see for sure. Apple has also invited select creators to in-person hands-on events in Los Angeles next week.
Next week is expected to be all about the Mac, with updates to the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini on the horizon. All of these new Macs will be powered by the M4 chip that first debuted in the iPad Pro back in May.
New MacBook Pro
We've already gotten a great look at the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip thanks to supply chain leaks. The new model is expected to feature 16GB of RAM for the first time and three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an upgrade from the three ports on the base M3 model. It is also expected to have a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, which is an upgrade from the M3 chip's 8-core CPU.
The higher-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will also see a spec bump to include the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. We don’t expect any major changes other than improved performance thanks to the faster chips.

New iMac
In addition to the MacBook Pro, Apple is also preparing an update for the 24-inch iMac. The 24-inch iMac currently runs on the M3 chip, and is expected to receive an upgrade to the M4 chip. The new 24-inch iMac could also feature an upgraded 16GB of RAM and two additional CPU cores, just like the base M4 MacBook Pro model.

The New Mac mini

The one I'm most looking forward to is the updated Mini. I'm currently using the M1 iMac, which is great, but I'd like more space and a Mini + Studio Display combo. HOWEVER, if they released a larger-screen iMac at a reasonable price relative to this combo, I might lean in that direction.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Mac mini is also getting a major update this month. In addition to the new M4 and M4 Pro chip configurations, the Mac mini is getting its biggest overhaul in years.
Apple is preparing a completely redesigned Mac mini, according to Bloomberg. The biggest change will be a significant reduction in size. The new Mac mini will reportedly be “much smaller than its predecessor” and will have a form factor similar to the Apple TV. According to the report, the M4 Mac mini will have a smaller overall footprint than the current Mac mini, but it may be slightly taller.
