One of the most remarkable experiences with the Vision Pro is watching Apple Immersive videos. Content available in Immersive Video has been slower to release than many users had hoped, but that could change in 2025 thanks to two major updates from Blackmagic.
Blackmagic Announces Big Hardware and Software News for Apple Immersive Video
Blackmagic today announced that it is taking pre-orders for its first camera system designed to capture Apple Immersive Video.
Pre-orders are open now, with shipping expected to begin in “late Q1 2025.”
Blackmagic’s URSA Cine Immersive Camera System will cost you a cool $29,995. Here's what you'll get.
From the press release:
Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive features a fixed, custom lens system pre-mounted on the body that is designed specifically for Apple Immersive video capture for Apple Vision Pro. The sensor delivers 8160 x 7200 resolution per eye with pixel-level synchronization and an incredible 16 stops of dynamic range, so filmmakers can capture 90 frames per second 3D content for an immersive cinematic experience in a single file. The custom lens system is designed for URSA Cine’s large format image sensor with extremely accurate positional data that is captured and stored during production. This immersive lens projection data, which is calibrated and stored on the device, is then post-processed into the Blackmagic RAW file itself.
Blackmagic also has good news for DaVinci Resolve users. The popular software will be updated in early 2025 with support for immersive video editing and more.
