Last week, iOS 18.2 introduced a handy new update to Find My that lets you share the location of a lost item with others, including airlines. Now Apple has announced which major airlines already support the feature.
Three Major Airlines Now Support Find My Bag Tracking
One of the most common ways to use Find My is to add an AirTag to your luggage and use that AirTag to track your checked baggage while you fly.
In iOS 18.2, Apple added the ability to share an item’s location with airlines, and previously announced that more than 15 airlines would be enabling support around the world in the coming months. One added the app integration late last week.
But today, ahead of the busy holiday travel season, we now know which of those 15 are ready to track any lost luggage right now.
Apple’s Greg Joswiak shared the details in a post on X:
Exciting news for all of us travelers! Starting this week, United, Delta, and Air Canada will accept the location of Find My items to help track delayed bags, with more airlines set to join soon. This is a game changer!
So if you're traveling this week, there are three major airlines that currently support the new Find My feature:
- Delta
- United
- Air Canada
Delta and United handle a significant amount of air travel in the US, so that means quite a few iPhone users in the US will be able to share the location of their lost luggage with these airlines if necessary.
How to Use Find My's New Airline-Friendly Feature
If you're having trouble with a lost bag, here's how you can share its location:
- Make sure you're using iOS 18.2
- Open Find My and tap on the missing item
- Tap “Share Item Location”
- This will create a webpage with a shared link to track the item
Each airline has its own method for sending this shared link, so check with your airline for instructions.
Also, be sure to turn off the tracking link once your bag has been successfully located.
