The Apple Watch Just Got a Useful New Feature That Will Inspire You to Stay Active

The Apple Watch recently learned a new trick for customers who need to take a day, week, or month off without breaking their Activity streak. watchOS 11 and iOS 18 allow users to temporarily pause their Activity rings, marking a highly requested feature from customers. Plus, today’s release of watchOS 11.2 and iOS 18.2 includes a new collection of rewards to help you stay motivated to exercise and stay active throughout the day.

All Rings Closed Awards

The Activity rings are made up of three goals: Move, Stand, and Workout. Stand and Workout were originally fixed at 12 different hours and 30 minutes per day, but Apple has added the ability to customize these metrics in recent years. Kids can even have their own set of metrics with the Move ring tracking time outdoors instead of calories burned.

Starting today, Apple Watch owners can unlock a new category of awards: All Rings Closed. As the name suggests, these awards are earned by closing all three Activity rings for a certain number of days.

You can unlock new badges when you close all three rings for 365 days, 500 days, 1,000 days, and even 3,500 days or more. Rewards can be viewed in the Fitness app (formerly called Activity) on your Apple Watch and iPhone.

Fun fact: The Apple Watch first went on sale on April 24, 2015, making the 3,500-day reward currently the highest one available to consumers. We just crossed the 3,500-day mark on December 3. Expect new milestones to unlock as they become available.
