Apple recently began sending emails to its users about changes to the terms and conditions that are now in effect for Apple Pay and Wallet. Interestingly, the changes actually went into effect almost three months ago, in September. Here's what you need to know.
Apple Pay term notices arrive months after actual changes
Here's an excerpt from the email sent to users about the revised Apple Pay and Wallet terms. Wallet Terms and Conditions:
We've made several updates to the Apple Pay and Wallet Terms and Conditions. Here's a quick summary of the major changes:
- We've simplified our Terms and Conditions for Apple Pay and Wallet so that your review and agreement to these Terms and Conditions applies across all your Apple devices.
- For our customers in the U.S., Apple Pay is a service provided by Apple Payments Services LLC, a subsidiary of Apple Inc.
- Our Terms and Conditions now include standard transfer provisions.
The full updated Terms and Conditions are available for review here, and the privacy notice is included in the email as an attachment.
The privacy notice is dated September 2024, and if you visit Apple's website to review the revised terms, you'll notice that they were last updated on September 16, 2024.
Nothing about the terms changes seems particularly significant or noteworthy, but it is odd that the revised terms went into effect nearly three months ago and Apple is only now sending emails about it.
