Apple has released visionOS 2.2 beta 4 to developers. The new software version brings us closer to the anticipated RC and the soon-to-be broad launch. Here's what to expect from the latest beta.
Highlights of visionOS 2.2 and today's beta
Today's new beta introduces the latest in a big update for Vision Pro users.
The big news in visionOS 2.2 is the many updates to Mac Virtual Display. These include:
- Wide display mode
- Ultrawide display mode
- Audio through Vision Pro itself
- Higher display resolution
We expect to launch the update publicly within the next week or two. This means that this is likely the last beta before the RC, and as a result, it is unlikely to have any new features or changes.
Instead, Beta 4's focus is on performance and stability, preparing the software for its soon-to-be-wide launch.
Major software changes coming to other Apple platforms
Aside from visionOS, Apple's main focus this software cycle has been iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These updates include major Apple Intelligence updates like Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and Image Playground.
You can download today's beta by visiting the Software Update sections on your Vision Pro, provided you have a developer account and opted in to beta updates.
