Apple TV+ has announced a new show that is in development and will be released in the future. It's called Lucky, and it has some big names behind it, including Anya Taylor-Joy.
Lucky Hails From Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine Studio
Lucky will be a limited television series based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name, which was a Reese's Book Club pick.
It will star Anya Taylor-Joy, who hasn't had a major TV role since her breakout appearance in Netflix's The Queen's Gambit in 2020. Since then, her work has mostly been in films like Super Mario Bros. Film, Dune: Part Two, and Menu, as well as a guest role on Peaky Blinders.
Here's the premise of the new TV+ show:
In Lucky, Taylor-Joy plays a young woman who left behind the life of crime she grew up in years ago, but must now embrace her dark, criminal side one last time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.
It's no surprise that since Lucky was a Reese's Book Club pick, Apple's regular collaborator is Hello Sunshine, the show's producer. Previous Apple collaborations include The Morning Show, The Last Thing He Told Me, and Surface.
Anya Taylor-Joy is set to make her Apple TV+ debut in the upcoming film The Gorge, where she stars alongside Miles Teller.
Apple TV+ has arguably had its strongest months in a while, and Lucky seems like a perfect fit for the streamer’s existing offerings. No release date has been announced yet, but hopefully it can hold out until 2025.
