Find My Gains lets you share the location of a lost item with an “airline or trusted person” in iOS 18.2

Apple added a new feature to the Find My app in iOS 18.2 beta 2 that lets you share the location of a lost item with a trusted person. Apple says the feature is designed to help you find an item through a third party, like an airline employee.

The Find My app now has options to “Share Item Location” and “Show Contact Info.” Selecting “Share Item Location” creates a link that allows someone to see the location of the lost item when they open the link. The link can be opened on a third-party device, so people without an iPhone or Mac can help you find something you've lost. Find My links you share expire after a week, and you can see how many people have visited the link. Shared links stop working when the item is returned to you or when the link expires.

Selecting Show Contact Info lets any phone or tablet connect to a lost item to open a website with more information about it, including the owner’s phone number and email address.

Find My already lets you share an item with someone in your contacts, but now it also lets you temporarily share the item’s location with someone else who can help you find it. The new feature for sharing a lost item works with AirTags and other devices that connect to Apple’s Find My network.
