The new Apple Intelligence features Apple introduced in iOS 18.1 are encouraging people to upgrade to the new software, Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC today.
Cook said users are downloading and installing iOS 18.1 at twice the rate they installed iOS 17.1 during the same period last year.
Apple hasn't yet provided install numbers for the iOS 18 update, so this is the first information on how iOS 18 adoption is compared to iOS 17.
iOS 18.1 was released on Monday, and it brings the capabilities of Apple Intelligence to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models. It includes Writing Tools for proofreading text, a new look for Siri and the Type to Siri feature, summaries and smart replies, a Cleanup tool for photos, and more.
iOS 18.2, scheduled for release in December, will likely entice even more people to upgrade, as it includes the first Apple Intelligence image generation features like Image Playground and Genmoji.
