Apple to Announce M4 Mac Next Week

Julie Clover

Apple's Greg Joswiak made it clear today that Apple plans to unveil new products next week, teasing updated Macs. In a social media post, Joswiak said “Mac your calendars” because an exciting week of announcements begins Monday morning.

With Joswiak's announcement, it looks like there won't be a dedicated Mac event in October this year, with Apple instead unveiling new products via press release. iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 software updates will be released on Monday, but new Mac announcements could also begin on Monday. In previous years, Apple has scheduled new product releases on days when there is no event scheduled.

Rumors and multiple leaks about the MacBook Pro indicate that Apple is ready to introduce the first M4 Macs. We're expecting new Mac mini, iMac, and MacBook Pro models.

The iMac, entry-level Mac mini, and entry-level MacBook Pro will all include the M4 chip we saw earlier this year in the iPad Pro models. The higher-end MacBook Pro models will use the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, and the Mac mini will also get the M4 Pro.

We don't expect any design changes to the iMac or MacBook Pro, but the Mac mini is rumored to be smaller, closer in size to the Apple TV. With the size reduction, it could be a bit thicker. For all entry-level models, RAM is rumored to start at 16GB instead of 8GB, which should provide better performance for Apple Intelligence features.

Whatever happens next week, we'll have full coverage of the new announcements on MacRumors.com.
