iOS 18.2 Lets EU Users Remove App Store, Safari, Messages, Camera, and Photos

By Julie Clover

With iOS 18.2, iPhone users in the European Union can completely delete a number of core apps, including the App Store, Safari, Messages, Camera, and Photos.

In August, Apple said it planned to make further changes to comply with the Digital Markets Act in the European Union, and one of the updates included the ability for EU users to delete system apps. Almost all apps can now be deleted in the EU, with the exception of the Phone app and the Settings app.

Deleted apps like the App Store can be redownloaded using the Install Apps section of the Settings app.

In the US and other countries, core apps like Photos and the App Store can be hidden, but not completely removed, from the iPhone and replaced with third-party apps.
