iFixit Teardown Reveals What's Inside the Apple Watch Series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 comes with a new design. While it doesn't look as radical as some might expect, the Series 10 design is significantly thinner and features larger displays. And for those curious about what's inside the Apple Watch Series 10, iFixit has now shared its traditional teardown video of the new watch.

The Apple Watch is certainly an incredible product, both inside and out. It’s amazing to see so much technology packed into such a small case. However, this design makes the Apple Watch difficult to disassemble and repair. As iFixit has shown, access to the internal components still requires heating the display to remove it.

The components are so well-fitted that the gap between the glass and the metal is only 0.176 millimeters, which certainly helps improve the watch’s water resistance. What’s more, the antennas on the Cellular models are now built precisely into the structure of the case.

Once the display is removed, the first visible components are the Taptic Engine and a 1,266 Wh battery (this is the 46 mm version, it’s worth mentioning), which is about the same capacity as previous generations. Unlike the iPhone, the Apple Watch’s internal battery is attached with a simple adhesive that can be easily removed.

Accessing other components requires removing a ton of small connectors and tiny screws. Interestingly, iFixit also took a closer look at the Apple Watch's OLED display. While Apple claims the Series 10 has a new panel that can be viewed from more angles, the structure appears to be largely unchanged.

The Apple Watch's sensors are underneath all the other components, so replacing them is still quite tricky. While iFixit praises the Series 10's new, thinner design, the repair company gave it a 3 out of 10 repairability rating.
