iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro Used to Design Seven NHL Goalie Masks

Joe Rossignol

Apple today released a new ad that highlights how artists used iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro to create personalized artwork for the seven NHL goalie masks that will be worn during the 2024-25 season. The masks then had artwork hand-painted onto them.

Goalie masks were created for Jeremy Swayman of the Boston Bruins, Jacob Markstrom of the New Jersey Devils, Stuart Skinner of the Edmonton Oilers, Sam Montembeault of the Montréal Canadiens, Linus Ullmark of the Ottawa Senators, Joseph Wall of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Thatcher Demko from the Vancouver Canucks.

NHL goalies have been wearing personalized masks for decades, but this is the first time Apple has said it was involved in the creative process.

At least some of the masks were designed in Adobe Photoshop, based on the images below.

More information about the Made on iPad campaign is available on the NHL website.

The NHL's latest season kicked off earlier this month.
