These 5 Apple Products Are Likely To Be Discontinued This Month

Apple is expected to hold its next event in October, focusing on iPad and Mac. However, introducing new products also means saying goodbye to old ones. Here are some Apple products you probably won't be able to buy at an Apple Store after this event.

M3 MacBook Pro

Apple is expected to introduce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros next month with M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips. Aside from the chip upgrades, the new MacBook Pro will be largely the same. No design changes are expected, although it is likely that the base model MacBook Pro will come with 16GB of RAM.

There is also a good chance that the base model MacBook Pro will come in Space Black rather than Space Gray.

M2 Mac mini

This month, Apple will introduce the biggest redesign of the Mac mini in 14 years, with a much smaller design, front-facing ports, and more. Apple last updated the Mac mini in January 2023, with the M2 and M2 Pro chips. The latest update brought the first Mac mini with a Pro chip, and we're expecting M4 and M4 Pro chips with a Mac mini redesign in a few weeks.

M3 iMac

We're also expecting a new iMac update this month, moving from the M3 chip to the M4 chip. This will also likely be a minor refresh, though we'll likely see the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad move from Lightning to USB-C.

iPad mini 6

Apple is expected to finally refresh the iPad mini, marking its first refresh in 3 years. We'll get a new chip with Apple Intelligence support, likely the A18. There's also likely support for the Apple Pencil Pro, a new display that fixes Jelly scrolling, and 128GB of storage in the base model.

iPad 10?

There are conflicting rumors about whether we'll get a new base iPad model next month. According to Ross Young, panels for the base model iPad will start shipping this month, pointing to a spring release.

However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also said a few weeks ago that “new, budget iPads” are in the works by October, suggesting refreshes to both the base model iPad and the iPad mini.

It's unclear what Apple's plans are for the iPad, but if Gurman is to be believed, the iPad 10 will likely be discontinued next month in favor of the 11th-generation iPad.

If you've been interested in either of these products, it's probably worth waiting for Apple's upcoming event.
