by Joe Rossignol

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman doesn't expect Apple to announce any new hardware during its WWDC 2024 keynote on June 10.

“There are no plans to announce any hardware at WWDC unless Apple unexpectedly announces a new device coming later (to be clear: I'm not expecting that),” – Gurman said in his book Power. Today in the newsletter.

Notably, Gurman now says a new Apple TV model is “not imminent,” despite previously reporting that Apple plans to release a new Apple TV in the first half of 2024 . Apple TV was introduced in October 2022.

This is when the previous five Apple TV models were announced:

  • Third generation Apple TV 4K: October 2022
  • Apple TV 4K second generation: April 2021
  • Apple TV 4K first generation: > September 2017
  • Apple TV HD: September 2015
  • Apple TV third generation: March 2012

The next Apple TV is rumored to feature a faster processor than the current A15 Bionic chip and an even lower price. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested that the next Apple TV could have a starting price of $99 in the US, up from $129 currently.

There have been no rumors of major design changes for the next Apple TV, but Gurman reported that Apple is considering adding a built-in camera to a future model. tvOS 17 adds the FaceTime app to Apple TV, allowing users to make video calls on the TV, but currently requires using the rear camera on a connected iPhone or iPad.
