How to Skip the ChatGPT Waitlist for Mac and Get Access Now

This month, OpenAI launched its own ChatGPT app for Mac alongside GPT-4o. But while anyone can install the Mac app, your account will need to be invited to early access—unless you use this workaround. Here's how it works.

Just yesterday, OpenAI announced that the macOS app is only available to “Plus and Team users.” #8221; and that it will be distributed more widely “in the coming weeks.”

How to download ChatGPT for Mac

  • If you are a Plus, Team or Enterprise user log in to ChatGPT on the web > click your icon profilein the top right corner > select “Download App.”
  • You can also download ChatGPT for Mac directly from the link at the top of this OpenAI topic.

OpenAI reports that macOS 14 and the Mac app require an Apple Silicon M1 or later.

How to skip Waitlist

Discovered and published by Diego Jimenez. Here's a workaround to skip the waitlist:

  1. Open ChatGPT for Mac and sign in.
  2. Exit the application. after resizing the window, but before the login error appears (use the +Q command for speed)
  3. Restart the application and it should work
