Tested: Handmade Manuel-Dreesmann Leather Case for MacBook Pro

The price you pay Apple for MacBook Pro leather cases has varied greatly over the years, but with its anti- – Leather Case. The closest thing to a leather case on apple.com is “vegan leather”; one from von Holzhausen.

On the other hand, this has brought the price down well below Apple's leather years. For example, for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the case costs a relatively affordable $99.95. But while I respect Apple's position on this issue, for me there is no substitute for real leather …

As a person with admitted hustle-busting tendencies, I Has gone through one or two MacBook cases and cases in recent years. Different designs have different pros and cons, but the most useful, in my opinion, is the form factor of a rigid or semi-rigid briefcase or envelope. They generally provide enough protection to carry your MacBook on its own, but remain compact enough to slip into a carry-on bag.

Manuel-Dreesman was founded in Barcelona, Spain in 2021 to create handcrafted leather goods based on minimalist design and high quality materials. The leather case for the 16-inch MacBook Pro is made from the highest quality vegetable-tanned leather.

The case states compatibility with all models from 2019 to 2024. I tested it with the 2021 M1 Max model and also confirmed that it fits the 2019 Intel model as it has a slightly tighter fit.

It does. available in a variety of colors, both traditional and modern:

  • Black
  • Dark Brown
  • Brown
  • Natural ( similar to cream)
  • Red
  • Olive green
  • Grass green
  • Sea blue
  • Royal blue
  • Orange

You also have the option to order with or without the MaDre logo, and have the option of up to 10 embossed personalization characters.

Every time I look at leather products available in bright colors, I am momentarily tempted to opt for the traditional black or brown. For this model, I chose a dark brown color that matches most of my existing bags.

The design is very minimalist: it's essentially a single piece of leather folded at the bottom to create a back and a front. case, and then fold over the top again to create an envelope-shaped flap. The flap is tucked into a wide front strap that emerges from two diagonal slits on the sides. The interior is unlined but smooth.

It's a really neat design that really suits my aesthetic preferences. The appearance of the leather is of a high standard, its thickness is quite tough and the stitching quality is impeccable.

The rounded bottom allows you to wear it under your arm, and it's also quite waterproof, so I found it comfortable to carry as is under my umbrella on a rainy day. when a few drops of water inevitably fell on it from time to time. He happily shrugged it off.

Some may prefer a briefcase with a handle; I have one of these that was purchased for the previous 15-inch model, but I have to say that I rarely used the handle, almost always carrying it under my arm.

At $194, it’ That's about twice as expensive as the faux leather case Apple sells in the store, and to me that's a price worth paying for the real thing. Recommended.

The Manuel-Dreesman Leather Case for the MacBook Pro is available on the company's website, as well as versions for other MacBook models, over-the-shoulder sleeves, and a similar line for the iPad.
