Little Snitch 6 released for macOS Sonoma with DNS encryption, built-in blacklists, new traffic graph and more

Austrian developer Objective Development has announced Little Snitch 6, the latest version of its popular firewall and network monitoring utility for Mac. Every time an application tries to connect to a server on the Internet, Little Snitch displays a connection warning, allowing you to decide whether to allow or deny the connection.


Key new features include DNS encryption, easier access to blacklists, a redesigned interactive traffic graph, a new Control Center in the menu bar, new hierarchical grouping options in the connection. list, new sound notifications and an updated user interface. The full list of advertised features is as follows:

  • DNS encryption: Let Little Snitch encrypt your server name queries to protect your online activity from prying eyes.
  • Built-in Blacklists. Easily choose from a curated list of blacklists. Install them with one click to add an extra layer of protection against unwanted connections.
  • Control Center in the Menu Bar: Quickly access important network information, recent activity charts, and recently blocked connections right from the menu bar.

  • Interactive Traffic Chart: Enjoy updated, intuitive real-time traffic. chart for clearer visualization and analysis of network activity.
  • Hierarchical connection grouping: Group connections by application, domain, server, or country to gain deeper insight into network traffic.
  • Advanced search & Filters: Quickly find specific connections or firewall rules with advanced search capabilities.
  • Usage Statistics: Monitor and optimize firewall rules based on frequency of use.
  • Sound Alerts: Stay up to date with what's happening in network action with customizable acoustic notifications by simply listening. Make connections visible as well as audible!
  • Rule groups: Group firewall rules by topic to conveniently enable or disable related rules together.
  • Extended web application support: Get more and greater fine-grained control over external connections initiated by websites.
  • Improved firewall rules: use of cryptographic code signing identifiers for better process identification, resistance to application renaming or moving.

Little Snitch 6 supports macOS Sonoma and is available on the Objective Development website for $59 per license. Existing users can upgrade for a discounted price starting at $39.

Licenses purchased after January 1, 2024 are already valid for Little Snitch 6 at no additional cost. Also included is a free demo mode that offers full functionality for three hours per session and can be reactivated as often as needed.
