Apple has announced Tap to Pay on iPhone in Japan, allowing independent merchants, small merchants and large retailers in the country to use the iPhone as a payment terminal.
Tap to Pay first appeared in the US in February 2022 and allows iPhones to accept payments through Apple Pay, contactless credit and debit cards, and other digital wallets. All transactions are encrypted, and Apple does not have any information about what was purchased or the person who made the purchase.
