Apple today announced a new 10-day event that will count down the 100 best albums of all time, as voted by Apple Music experts and a select group of artists. The event will feature Apple Music revealing 10 albums from the list daily, plus a new microsite featuring analysis of each album, interviews and more.
“Compiling this list was a real labor of love, both because it was incredibly difficult to do and because we are all so passionate about it,” he said Zane Lowe, Global Creative Director of Apple Music and Host of Apple Music 1. “We were tasked with selecting the top 100—a nearly impossible mission. the music, albums and artists we love so much in this context. If this list generates more controversy among fans outside of Apple Music and gets people talking passionately about the music they love, then we've done what we set out to do. “
The first 10 albums on the list revealed today include:
100. Body Talk, Robin
99. Hotel California, Eagles
98. ASTROWORLD, Travis Scott
97. Rage against the machine, Rage against the machine
96. Pure Heroine, Lord
95. Confessions, USHER
94. Untruth, Burial
93.A Seat at the Table, Solange
92. Flower Boy, Tyler, the Creator
91. > Listen with an Open Mind Vol. 1, George Michael
The countdown event will also include a takeover of Apple Music Hits on Apple Music with specials from various Apple Music request on Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. The event will culminate with a roundtable discussion with artists Nile Rodgers and Maggie Rogers along with Apple Music hosts Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden's Top 10 albums will be announced on Wednesday, May 22.
