Apple announced a new series of iPad Pro and iPad Air models last week, but news of a new iPad mini was conspicuous by its absence.

Apple hasn't updated the iPad mini since 2021, so it's certainly ripe for an update , but according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, fans of the smaller 8.3-inch device will have to wait a little longer for the seventh-generation model.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman warned his readers. Don't expect a new iPad mini model to appear “before the end of this year.” In other words, don't expect an iPad mini 7 announcement during Apple's upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Gurman expects the next iPad model to feature a newer processor, but with some other changes. Other sources say new camera upgrades could be included, as well as a possible fix for the display's “jelly scrolling” on the latest model.

Gurman previously said the new entry-level iPad model will be similar. unlikely to appear before the end of 2024. The current budget iPad was last updated in October 2022.
