PSA: In some countries, the new iPad Pro and iPad Air no longer include a charger in the box.

Update: Looks like this is related to “Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment& #8221; rules in the EU. This applies in the UK as it was adopted before Brexit.

Apple today introduced new iPad Pro and iPad Air lines, as well as updates to the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. However, there's a downside for buyers in the UK and other European countries: Apple no longer includes a charger with the new iPad Air and iPad Pro.

According to product listings in the UK and other European countries, iPad Pro and iPad Air sold in these regions only include a USB-C cable in the box. This time, the package does not include a USB-C wall plug. This is a change from the previous generation iPad Pro and iPad Air, which included both a USB-C cable and a power plug.

There is no explanation why Apple made this change. iPad mini and iPad 10 sold in the UK and Europe continue to include a wall socket. iPad Pro and iPad Air sold outside the UK and Europe also include a charger in the box.

If you have any theories about why Apple made this change, please let us know in the comments.
