Rumor has it that the iPhone 16 will have an even thinner frame

By Hartley Charlton

Some iPhone 16 models will have thinner bezels thanks to Border Reduction Structure (BRS), The Elec reports.

BRS technology provides a more compact and efficient layout of the main screen circuits, creating thinner bezels without compromising display performance or the overall form factor of the device. This requires precise and advanced manufacturing techniques, given the difficulty of denser circuit packing and the need to bend some wires downwards under the bezel.

Display driver ICs (DDIs) are the components at the center of this manufacturing challenge. , control the activation and illumination of pixels on the OLED panel. To meet Apple's demands, LG Display is apparently diversifying its DDI supply chain by bringing on board Novatech from Taiwan along with its existing supplier LX Semicon. The move is intended to increase quality control while reducing costs.

It is unclear whether the thinner bezel technology is intended for the standard ‌iPhone 16‌ iPhone 16 Pro and ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models Max, or both. Most likely, it will appear separately in the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ The display size of these devices is expected to increase from 6.1 to 6.3 inches and from 6.7 to 6.9 inches without significantly increasing the overall size. It's also worth noting that Apple has reduced the bezels of the iPhone 15 Pro and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Last year's Max is significantly larger than the iPhone 15 and ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus. Last month, a Korean report said that BIS technology will come to all ‌iPhone 16‌ arrangement.
