Apple releases macOS Sonoma 14.4

Apple today released macOS Sonoma 14.4, the fourth major update to ‌macOS Sonoma‌ operating system released last September. ‌macOS Sonoma‌ Version 14.4 will be released a month after ‌macOS Sonoma‌ 14.3, an update that introduced Apple Music collaborative playlists.


The ‌‌‌‌‌macOS Sonoma‌‌‌ 14.4‌ update can be downloaded for free on everyone suitable Mac computers using the “Software Update” section in the system settings. There is also macOS 13.6.5 for those still running macOS Ventura, and macOS 12.7.4 for those running macOS Monterey.

With ‌macOS Sonoma‌ In version 14.4, Apple introduces new emoji characters and adds support for full text reading of a podcast episode with search support. There are new features for business updates in Messages, as well as a toggle to show only website icons in Safari's favorites bar. Apple's release notes for the update are below.

macOS Sonoma 14.4 introduces new emojis, as well as other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your Mac.

Emoji
– New mushroom, phoenix, lime, broken chain and shaking heads emojis are now available on the emoji keyboard.
– Supports 18 people emoji and body facing in the opposite direction.

This is an update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:
– Podcast episode text can be read in full, searched by word or phrase, clicked to play from a specific location, and used with accessibility features such as text size, Increase contrast, and VoiceOver
-Business updates in Messages for Business let you receive updates you've opted in to, such as order status, flight notifications, fraud alerts, or other transactions from trusted businesses
– Safari favorites bar adds ability to display only icons for websites.

Some features may not be available in all regions or on all Apple devices.
