Apple TV+ series Hijack has officially been renewed for a second season, with Idris Elba confirmed to return as negotiator and hero Sam Nelson. The first season found Nelson at the center of a plane hijacking, unfolding in real time over seven hour-long episodes.
The Hijack became a smash hit last summer, becoming one of only three Apple TV+ shows to still appear on Apple TV+. Nielsen streaming charts.
Hijack's second season renewal, originally intended as a one-off limited series, is a direct result of the show's popularity. Aside from confirming Idris Elba's return, Apple hasn't revealed any details about how the storyline will develop in season two.
Rather than repeating another plane hijacking, it's likely that Sam Nelson will find himself in the middle of another hostage situations. Expect casting and production news in the coming months.
Some of Apple's best shows have come from the company's UK European division, led by creative director Jay Hunt. Other notable British original series include Bad Sisters, Slow Horses and Criminal Case, currently airing.
