Business users of PayPal Zettle and Venmo can now accept payments using Apple Tap to Pay on iPhone.
After adding support for Apple Pay in September 2023, PayPal announced that its US users now have the ability to use Tap to Pay. In contrast to the slow rollout of Apple Pay support, the company says Tap to Pay is now available throughout the US.
“As consumers increasingly turn to cashless payment options, small businesses are looking for affordable and flexible ways to offer their customers more payment options without being tied to a fixed location,” said Nitin Prabhu of PayPal. in a statement: “With Tap to Pay on iPhone, millions of small businesses using Venmo and PayPal Zettle can now start accepting contactless card and digital wallet payments virtually anywhere, right on their iPhones, which can expand their customer base and drive additional sales. ” “
Users can accept contactless cards and digital wallets directly on their iPhones. In the past, firms like Zettle have made their own separate devices to accept payments.
PayPal says users can add taxes to amounts charged, send receipts or refunds, and accept tips. While the company won't say how long it will take for the funds to reach the user, it does say they will “quickly arrive in the company's Venmo or PayPal Zettle account.”
“Enabling Tap to Pay on iPhone using our Venmo business profile was very easy,” says Elaine Bailey, founder of The Cheesecake Queen and presumably a beta tester. “It's especially convenient when “You have a long queue of customers and you need to process payments quickly.”
Apple first announced Tap to Pay in February 2022. Since then, the company has been gradually adding companies and countries to the feature.
