Now, after measuring fourth quarter data, Ookla reports that the iPhone 15 Pro Max remains the king of cellular speeds. Ookla shared its latest mobile phone performance report comparing speeds downloads and uploads from major US carriers, consistency, availability and more today.

The report shows how the most popular smartphones in the US in the fourth quarter of 2023 stacked up in terms of download/upload speed and latency.
In the fall of 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro Max earned the crown, but then lost the title for the fastest cellular speeds in the fourth and first quarters of 2023.
Notably, in the second quarter of 2023, an Ookla test showed that the average download speed of the iPhone 14 Pro Max dropped to 127.83 Mbps. At the time, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra ranked first with an average download speed of 161.86 Mbps.
The fastest smartphones by loading speed in the fourth quarter of 2023
Today, according to the latest Ookla study, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are inferior to Samsung and Google smartphones.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max outperformed all other devices on the list with an average download speed of 213.84 Mbps. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro had an average download speed of 189.33 Mbps.
