Apple Vision Pro May Get M5 Update in 2025, But Lower Price Expected headset has been delayed and may shift processing to iPhones to cut costs.

Ming-Chi Kuo says production of an all-new version of Apple's Vision Pro has been delayed “beyond 2027.” He claims the current, existing model will be replaced by an identical one upgraded to the M5 processor in 2025.

He says Apple has decided to shelve rumors of a cheaper Apple Vision Pro model, believing that “simply lowering the price won’t help create successful use cases.” Apple has also struggled to attract rapid app development and experiences for the headset.

Kuo compared Apple’s thinking to the company’s experience with the HomePod line. “Even after the launch of the cheaper HomePod mini, Apple’s smart speakers have not become mainstream products,” he said.

Kuo won’t say whether this news comes from his industry sources or if it’s again purely his extrapolation from his experience covering Apple.

However, his prediction of plans to update Apple’s cheaper Vision Pro model is supported by a Bloomberg report. This report claims that Apple is “seriously considering” developing a cheaper “Apple Vision” headset that would offload most, if not all, of the processing load to the user’s iPhone. Such a device could be more like existing augmented reality smart glasses.
