Apple Launches Rear Camera Repair Program for Some iPhone 14 Plus Models

Some iPhone 14 Plus units have an issue that affects the device's rear camera.

Apple has determined that a “very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus units have an issue with the rear camera and has launched a repair program to fix it.

The company says that iPhone 14 Plus units manufactured between April 10 and April 28 last year may have an issue with their rear camera. The issue prevents the device from showing a preview of an image when taking a photo.

Apple has launched a webpage detailing the issue, and it allows users to check the serial number of their iPhone 14 Plus to determine if they are eligible. If the device is affected by the issue, Apple will fix the issue for free, regardless of the phone’s warranty status.

Users who are affected will need to bring their iPhone 14 Plus to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for repair. Users who don’t live near an AASP or store can request a mail-in option by contacting Apple Support.

The program does not extend your existing warranty, but covers any affected iPhone 14 Plus models for up to three years from the original purchase date, according to the company’s webpage. The iPhone 14 Plus was released in September 2022, so this program will cover all affected devices until September 2025.

If the user has already paid for the camera repair, they can contact Apple to request a refund of the repair cost.
