by Hartley Charlton

iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia introduce a new dedicated Passwords app for faster access to important credentials.

The Passwords app replaces iCloud Keychain, which is currently only accessible through a menu in Settings. Passwords are now accessible directly through a separate app, making access much faster and closer to competing services.

The Passwords app consolidates multiple credentials, including passwords, passkeys, and Wi-Fi passwords, into a single, easily accessible one. place. Users can filter and sort their accounts based on various criteria, such as recently created accounts, credential type, or membership in public groups.

Passwords are also compatible with Windows via ‌iCloud‌ for Windows, expanding its usefulness to users running on different platforms.

Developer betas for ‌iOS 18‌, iPadOS 18 and ‌macOS Sequoia‌ are available today, and the official release is planned for the fall, which will allow you to familiarize yourself with the Passwords application in advance.
