Meta is introducing a new way for creators to test the performance of content before sharing it with followers. Instagram's new feature, called “test reels,” allows creators to share videos with non-followers to gauge reaction. This will allow creators to promote their most engaging videos to their engaged audience of followers.

Meta explains how to create an Instagram preview reel:
To share a Reel as a trial, simply follow the normal steps for creating a Reel, but before publishing, tap the toggle to turn on “Trial.” Once you share your trial, you’ll be able to find it by visiting your profile, where it will appear alongside all of your drafts.
Only you will be able to see that your Reel is a trial. It won’t show up for others to see in your profile’s main grid or Reels tab unless you later choose to share it with everyone, and your followers won’t see the trial in their feed or Reels tab. […]
The company adds that insights and metrics will be available 24 hours after you publish your trial. Trial Reels that perform well can be automatically shared with followers after 72 hours if you choose.
The new Trial Reels feature has its own trial period. Meta says the new tool will be available to a select audience today, and will be available to all eligible creators in the coming weeks.
