Stunning Cinematic Video Footage With iPhone 16 Pro Including Attaching It To A Drone

As part of an annual tradition, filmmaker Joey Helms created a stunning cinematic video showcasing the iPhone 16 Pro in his hometown of Chicago.

This year, he teamed up with Sam Perez to mount the new phone on a drone and capture aerial footage, and of course, included some slow-motion footage to show off the new 4K 120fps shooting capabilities …

Helms says everything was shot on an iPhone 16 Pro in ProRes LOG 4K, then edited in Final Cut Pro X.

As usual, he'll be sharing a behind-the-scenes video showing how it was filmed.

While consumer drones have cameras built into them, more powerful models allow you to mount a separate camera to them. That could be a small mirrorless camera, a professional DSLR, or a cinema camera. Or, in this case, an iPhone.

For my taste, the drone footage makes up too much of the finished video. For me, the joy of these videos is that they show what can be done with just an iPhone and an insane amount of talent. Very few iPhone owners have access to a drone of this caliber.

But there's no doubt that drone shots are even more impressive.

We'll get some thoughts on the new iPhone from the director in the next article, but for now, sit back and enjoy …
