Sonos Launches Next-Gen Arc Ultra Along with Updated Sub 4

Sonos Arc Ultra Brings Cinema-Quality Spatial Sound to Your Living Room

Sonos has finally released its latest soundbar, the Sonos Arc Ultra, along with a newly updated Sub 4 to deliver what it calls audio “cinema quality” in your home.

It’s long been rumored that new devices would be coming out of the Sonos camp, and they’ve managed to do so before the holiday season. This comes as Sonos continues to improve its mobile app.

The big news item is the Sonos Arc Ultra, which looks very similar to the existing Sonos Arc. The Arc Ultra delivers louder, more accurate 9.1.4 surround sound — compared to 5.1.2 surround sound — to your living room.

The speaker maker is touting what it calls Sound Motion, a new technology that produces more powerful sound from smaller components.

This allows them to pack a larger soundstage while giving the soundbar a sleeker look. It has 14 built-in audio drivers that can be customized using the Sonos Trueplay feature available in its mobile app.

Enabled via the app, Sonos has a new Voice Enhancement feature. It builds on its previous dialogue boost to make the center channel clearer, similar to Apple’s new addition in tvOS 18.

It also supports Bluetooth audio input along with AirPlay and control via the Sonos app. You can choose Amazon Alexa or Sonos Voice Control for its voice assistant.

The new speaker also continues to focus on environmental standards. Sonos says they’re using more screws and less glue, reducing package size and reducing standby power consumption.

Paired with the new Arc Ultra is the Sub 4. It’s been redesigned but retains much of the old gen-3 aesthetic.

It’s a rounded square with a hole in the center for two custom-tuned force-cancelling speakers. The outside has a new matte finish to better blend into your home’s decor.

Inside, Sonos has updated the wireless radio to improve performance with other speakers. Additionally, increased processing power and memory should help the subwoofer future-proof.

Finally, Sonos has released more updates to the Sonos app. Starting October 15, the Sonos mobile app will have improved queue management, music library indexing, and reliability improvements, as well as a few Android-specific tweaks.

Where to Buy the Sonos Arc Ultra and Sub 4

The new Arc Ultra is available directly from Sonos and on Amazon for $999.

The new Sub 4 from Sonos is also available directly from Sonos.com and through Amazon, and the wireless subwoofer is available for $799.
