Prototype revealed scroll wheel-controlled iPod Tetris game

Unreleased iPod Tetris &# 8230;

The Tetris clone was found by user X AppleDemoYT, who collects prototypes of Apple devices. This is reported by Engadget.

It's called Stacker and apparently controlled via an iPod scroll wheel […]

The iPod prototype is a “DVT” device, that is, it was an intermediate stage device that was still in the “design proof testing” stage. It has model number A1023, which is not a known model number for any version of the iPod.

The device runs a prototype version of iPodOS 2.0, which is where Stacker came from. Parts move from left to right using the scroll wheel and fall when you press the middle button. The goal is to clear the lines and score points. You know the deal. It's Tetris.

Later versions of the iPod had a few games, including an official version of Tetris, but not the third generation.

Getting started with the game, the prototype required a bit of work, as explains Apple Demo in YouTube video. When he tried to start it, it failed with a bad disk icon, but he didn't want to give up.

I wanted to test the original drive on another iPod to see if something was wrong so with the iPod prototype itself. So, I inserted the disc into the first generation iPod, and to my utter amazement, it loaded! Not only did this mean that the original hard drive worked, but it meant that the Prototype software also worked on other iPod models!

So I immediately went out and bought a brand new 3rd generation iPod hard drive tape. cable, and sure enough, as soon as I installed it, the iPod started working

He was also curious why it never started, so he did what anyone would do and asked: “Father of the iPod’ itself.

Tetris was never released on the third generation iPod, and after communicating with by various people, I've heard a lot of theories about why this game wasn't included – so I went to former Apple engineer Tony Fadell [and the reason] was pretty disappointing, and I quote: “because we added games.” with later software.”
